Supanova Convention Buddies

Having just heard that I have table at OZ Comic Con in July I thought I would share this photo from 2 weeks ago at Supanova Melbourne.

James and I had just arrived home after going to Spectrum Fantastic Art Live in Kansas City, MO. We were both exhausted, I was very sick from travelling.

We couldn’t have made it through the weekend without the support of our convention family

Thank you very much to our friends Nicole for Saturday and Ben for Sunday for stepping in to look after us. We greatly appreciated your help!

Thank you to everyone that stopped by and said hello and to everyone that bought something. You all made it all worth it!

FCBD 2016 All Star Comics Melbourne – Artist Alley Sketches

These are just a few of the sketches I did as part of All Star Comics Melbourne‘s epic Free Comic Book Day event. I’ve never done any convention sketching before so I didn’t know what really to expect but the variety of requests and people were great!

Thank you to all of the people that stopped by and asking me to draw something. And a very heartfelt thank you to the people of All Star Comics for inviting me and for all of their hard work and organisation that made it a fun afternoon for us artists and the public.

Supanova Melb 2016 – Wrap-up

I had another great time exhibiting at Supanova Melbourne this past weekend.

The lead up is stressful and show itself is exhausting but as always I am left feeling inspired, encouraged and part of a wonderful group of people.

This show was particularly special as I was able to meet an artist I’ve admired since I was 13 yrs old, Ashley Wood. Sadly he had completely sold out of all his toys and books before I was able to get back to his table. But I did get to have something I value more, a brief conversation together about doing what you love not what is safe and nothing you do as an artist is a mistake.

I met so many new lovely people both attending and exhibiting. It was especially nice to meet Paul and Claire from Weta workshop who are organising the upcoming White Cloud Worlds: The Art & Industry of Imagination Conference & Exhibition.  I very much look forward to catching up with them in NZ!

One of the absolute highlights of the weekend was getting together Saturday night for dinner with art friends both old and new.

Planning for the future I had a lot of people interested in an artbook/sketchbook of my work and seeing me continue my series of prints. I also had friends and customers cheer on my desire to produce my own comic and upcoming illustrated fairytale collaboration.

I have to thank my partner, James I could not do these events without you and to all my friends that support me!
