I’m late sharing this here but here is my “Christmas Card” for 2018, continuing my Art Deco Christmas flora fashion illustrations – now with puns! 🌲The end of this year has be busy, hard and brought a lot of changes. It was nice to take a few hours on Christmas Eve to draw this. Wishing you all a very happy festive season 🌟
I’ve been working on this personal piece for a few months now in the few spare hours I could find.
“I am Fire,
I am comfort and destruction,
I burn in the darkness,
I am protected.
Inspired by the often tragic myths and fairy tales of a mortal’s love for a water nymph. Digital Painting.
“He would take her for his bride,
Beautiful like the mist and sparkling water,
But he could not take the river in his arms.
“She has come for me,
Moonlight is her face
Ravens, her cloak
Through the cold mist
On the now silent battlefield.
I had this idea and sketched out a tiny scribbley thumbnail about a year ago. I started collecting reference images and refined the sketch. I would work on it when I got a chance but it wouldn’t look right. So I would leave it. I would restart again with the thumbnail. More reference. Restarting it again. And again. And again.
And then something clicked and I restarted and finished the painting in about a week. What clicked? Her wings couldn’t be majestically outspread, to be descending they would be pulled back and smaller. And the composition fell into place.
Power. Grace. Wisdom. Courage. Wonder.
🌟New Print! Wonder Woman! 🌟
I really liked the Wonder Woman movie and I am so glad that kids growing up now have heroes like her to look up to.
The final prints all together! The ladies of X-men in jewel tone Art Nouveau style.
Prints will be available to buy as a set or individually at Supanova Melb – ✨Table 76 ✨in the Grand Pavilion and Oz Comic-Con Melbourne in June. Any remaining prints will be sold through my etsy shop.
And saving my favourite for last in my ladies of X-men series – Rogue!
Prints of these series will be available to buy as a set or individually at Supanova Melb April 21-22 and at Oz Comic-Con Melbourne in June. Any remaining prints will be sold through my etsy shop.
A new print to add to my series of favourite women of X-men. These characters got me interested in comics and as a kid I always wished there were beautiful posters of them I could hang up in my room. Depicted as heroes to look up to not just sexy pin ups. So I am making them now.
Next in the series is Storm!
Happy Lunar New Year!
May the Year of the Dog bring joy, prosperity and strength.
I look forward to doing these horoscope illustrations every year!
Champagne to celebrate the New Year!
This is the second drinks poster I designed. I plan to make a 3rd to finish off the set.
Happy New Year everyone!
Be good to yourself, be kind to others, make things, share things, be patience.
