Brotherhood of Steel – Fallout Pin Up

I’ve always been inspired by the nose art pin up girls of WWII and have wanted to try painting one of my pin ups directly on to metal.

And in fitting with Fallout’s salvaged aesthetic I recycled a 20x30cm tin sign, weathering and sanding off its original paint.

I wanted to capture the Petty Girl glowing tan and sweet smile of vintage pin ups. I imagine that an image like this would be like a recruitment poster for the Brotherhood faction.

She is entirely painted using Vallejo acrylic paint including the Brotherhood logo and text that I airbrushed stencil on before beginning the figure. The finished painting is protected and sealed with UV cut Matte clear spray varnish.

I will have her on display and for sale at Supanova this weekend (April 16 & 17th) at the Melbourne Showgrounds, Ascot Vale.

Mini Groot Plush Toys

I have several requests for a less expensive simplified Baby Groot plush design and its is here!

My Mini Groots are an adorable 18cm (7inches) tall with a “beanie” pot to make it stand. He is filled with quality polyfil and plastic pellets. The green felt details are hand cut and sewn in to the body. He has black plastic safety eyes and a sweet hand stitched smile.

I will have 6 of these new Groot plushies for sale at my table this weekend’s Supanova Melbourne. I will have them available to order from my Etsy Shop after the show.

Samus Aran – Art Nouveau

Samus Aran - Art Nouveau

Samus Aran in the Art Nouveau style new print design.  I will have prints of her and my other designs for sale at this years events and online.

I never really got to play video games much as a kid but when I got to play Smash Bros. at friends’ houses I always chose Samus. It was years later I found out that she wasn’t a robot and there was a person inside!

Art Deco – Poison Ivy

Art Deco - Poison Ivy

Art Deco – Poison Ivy to finish off my Art Deco DC set.  I had the idea for an art deco rose bud shawl for months and I finally was able to realise it for Ivy’s dress.

All 3 prints will for sale along with one more new design I will reveal later this week.

Art Deco – Catwoman

Continuing my Art Deco DC character redesigns with Catwoman. Inspired by the elegant concepts of Erté, the prolific 20th-century artist and designer, I started re imaging the already heavily art deco Batman: The Animated Series characters into fashion illustrations.

Her hat is based on a genuine 1920’s McCall’s sewing pattern with slight modifications.

I will be selling Art Deco Catwoman and Harley Quinn prints at events this year.

Korben Dallas – 5th Element

The companion piece to my Supreme Being painting – Korben Dallas.  The 5th Element is one of my all time favourite movies and Bruce Willis is the coolest (Die Hard being one of my most favourite movies too!)

I will be selling prints of both at Supanova Melbourne in April.

Painting Tin – WIP Wednesday

WIP Wednesday –  Painting on to a tin sign.

BrotherhoodOfSteel_PinUp_WIP

Inspired by the work of George Petty and WWII nose art, I’m experimenting with painting directly on to metal. The painting is on a new-made-to-look-old tin sign that I sanded and distressed myself.

Those of you with a keen eye and a knowledge of popular video games might be able to guess what she is promoting.

I will have the finished painting for sale at Supanova Melbourne next month.

Lara Croft – Art Nouveau

Lara Croft

Lara Croft  –  Art Nouveau style poster based on the Inktober sketch I did last year.  I will have this for sale as prints at my upcoming conventions.

Happy Women’s Day! Everyday!

The Knave – Knave Knixx

A special birthday present portrait of my friend, The Knave aka Knave Knixx – DJ, musician, entertainer and cool dude.

The two sides represent his different performance styles and the surrounding elements inspired by traditional playing card motifs mixed with symbols based on his music.
