Fairytale “Jewel Thief”

This idea started out as a concept for a new web banner combining symbols from classic fairytales. As I work on it more it developed into its own story of a fairy thief and a magic glowing jewel.

I slowly worked on inking this image a bit at a time in a quiet moment or two as a way to relax amongst all of the events of the last few months.

I still need to make a new web banner but I enjoyed the journey this piece took.

Covert Characters Life Drawing – 70’s Themed Session with Tijana

Last weeks Covert Characters Life Drawing was far out and groovy with the fab Tijana striking some funking poses. Our ears were treated to some ace tunes provided by Kylie, a cool cat who knows where its at 😉

Covert Characters Life Drawing – French Deco Session with Lorelle Rouge

Last month I had the privilege to teach 2 life drawing classes. Covert Characters is lucky to have access to some amazing professional models who are not only beautiful subjects but make my job as host easy.

We enjoyed a elegant French deco inspired session to end Sept with the gorgeous Lorelle Rouge. She transported us to another era wearing little but gloves and pearls.

Covert Characters Life Drawing has some amazing sessions lined up to see out the year so be sure to look out for those. More details can be found on the website here>

Josephine Baker Inspired Life Drawing at Covert Characters

LifeDrawing_CovertCharacters_ Annaleigh_JosephineBaker_01

Our last session of life drawing at Covert Characters had the lovely Annaleigh, as Josephine Baker in her iconic banana skirt, striking some of her famous poses. Beautiful, jazzy and fun!

Looking forward to going to tonight’s session 😀

Covert Characters Life Drawing

At the start of this year I discovered  Covert Characters Life Drawing here in Melb and they have be so much fun to attend!

Every class has a very different theme and model.  The session lit by blacklight with glowing body paint was unlike any life drawing I have done to before!

These are a few of my favourite sketches from the last few months – NEON LIFE (Models Sebastian and Brie, Body Artist/s – Dale Proposch (Flutterby Face Painting), Body Artist and Photographer Suedy) , Mr Marmalade and Tahlia Celenn.

Brotherhood of Steel – Fallout Pin Up

I’ve always been inspired by the nose art pin up girls of WWII and have wanted to try painting one of my pin ups directly on to metal.

And in fitting with Fallout’s salvaged aesthetic I recycled a 20x30cm tin sign, weathering and sanding off its original paint.

I wanted to capture the Petty Girl glowing tan and sweet smile of vintage pin ups. I imagine that an image like this would be like a recruitment poster for the Brotherhood faction.

She is entirely painted using Vallejo acrylic paint including the Brotherhood logo and text that I airbrushed stencil on before beginning the figure. The finished painting is protected and sealed with UV cut Matte clear spray varnish.

I will have her on display and for sale at Supanova this weekend (April 16 & 17th) at the Melbourne Showgrounds, Ascot Vale.

Art Deco – Poison Ivy

Art Deco - Poison Ivy

Art Deco – Poison Ivy to finish off my Art Deco DC set.  I had the idea for an art deco rose bud shawl for months and I finally was able to realise it for Ivy’s dress.

All 3 prints will for sale along with one more new design I will reveal later this week.

Art Deco – Catwoman

Continuing my Art Deco DC character redesigns with Catwoman. Inspired by the elegant concepts of Erté, the prolific 20th-century artist and designer, I started re imaging the already heavily art deco Batman: The Animated Series characters into fashion illustrations.

Her hat is based on a genuine 1920’s McCall’s sewing pattern with slight modifications.

I will be selling Art Deco Catwoman and Harley Quinn prints at events this year.
