Greek Mythology Life Drawing Session

Thank you to all of you that joined me for my first class teaching life drawing for the year! Our fantastic model, John, took inspiration from classical statues for the night’s poses. It was truly lovely to hear that my tips on drawing proportion and observation helped. I was very impressed with the quality of everyone’s drawings that evening.

I will announce when I will be hosting my next class soon.

Princess Leia: A New Hope -Painting In Progress

My tribute in progress to an amazing lady and with what it going on in the world for all the amazing women throughout history who have stood their ground. I will be donating the finished painting to the #kickbraincancer charity auction. This sketch was inspired by Alphonse Mucha’s ‘La Trappistine‘ poster.

Last Covert Characters for 2016

I finished off my life drawing classes for 2016 with a fantastic anime inspired session at Covert Charaters. Our beautiful model Silhouette d’Amour posed as Ryuko Matio from Kill La Kill with an impressive replica Scissor Blade.

Photos of me going over some figure drawing tips, answering questions and sketching the final pose of the night were taking by my BFF Nicole (BleedingHeartPrints).

Covert Character NEON Life Drawing

Last month I had the privilege to attend another fabulous NEON life drawing session at Covert Character. The Workshop space was changed into a black lit jungle. Our models Hamish and Lorelle were transformed into vividly painted big cats by the talented Suedy @JuicyBodyArt (tiger) and Dale Proposch @daleproposch (leopard).

With the large number of artist attending art supplies ran low and I stuck with my humble white colored pencil for the session.

Covert Characters Life Drawing Tribal Punk Session with Ameena

The last Covert Characters Life Drawing for Oct was high fashion meets Mad Max for a Tribal Punk Session. The slim and serene Ameena posed for us in a beautiful handmade feather mohawk crafted by our host Cindy. We supplied and combined the costume pieces to create the unique look for the session.

Bonus Inktober 2016 Time lapse Video !

Bonus Inktober 2016 Time lapse Video!

I wasn’t able to get this video posted before the end of Oct but I thought I would still share it. Learning from my first video – the camera is moved to my left side so the drawing isn’t covered by my hand and I’ve tried to have more light. Nearly all of my inktober drawing were done after I finished everything else for the day meaning they were done often late into the night.

The video has been sped up 16x to show a little over half and hour of inking. My tools for all of my inktober drawings-Castell XF 0.7 mechanical pencil, Mircon pens on toned paper and A3 LED light pad.

I hope to share more process videos in the future and perhaps some tutorials as well.

Dr Sketchy’s Oct Session with BAM BAM

Last month’s Dr Sketchy’s session featured the unique and beautiful performer and event-maker, BAM BAM. She was like a cocktail of Rock n Roll danger, sideshow humour with burlesque grace.

One of my drawing (Her reclining in the “Eyes”costume) ended up winning the art book prize  “Metamorphosis 1&2″from the our hosts BeinArt Gallery. I’d like to think it was meant as lovely early birthday present.

Inktober Day 31 – Ghoul (Back Dated)

*I was fairly certain that I posted it on the day but that post seems to have disappeared. So here it is again!*

#inktober2016 Day 31 – Ghoul

Hungry, the creature feasts on the long dead found in a forgotten tomb.

Happy Halloween!

With a mixture of relief and sadness another Inktober comes to an end. It was a challenge to find time to do a drawing each day but I am really pleased that I could see it through. As rushed as some of these drawing are I am happy with all of them. It has been great practice and really good to draw on paper everyday.

The equally deadly brother to the Basilisk, the Cockatrice has the added advantage of flight.
